Aloo posto is a favourite Bengali recipe. Believe it or not it is extremely easy to cook Aloo Posto . If you are not sure what aloo posto is - it is potato cooked in poppy seed paste . Try it. Its a delicasey.

How to make aloo posto :

  1. Boil the potato and cut them into small square pieces.
  2. Make the posto bata - poppy seed paste - in a mixer
  3. Add 3 table spoon oil in a kadai and heat it. Add kalonji, garlic paste and potato and mix well.
  4. Add salt, sugar, green chili and water (as per above proportions) and stir well.
  5. Cover with lid and let it sit on the flame for 5 minutes
  6. Now add the posto bata - poppy seed paste.
  7. Gently stir and see that the water dries up completely in the heat and you are left with the posto paste smeared on the potato cubes
  8. Add 1 table spoon of mustard oil and stir well.
  9. Aloo posto is best served with boiled rice . Granish with green chillies while you serve. Enjoy your meal.
